If you are already prescribed PrEP and are registered as a patient at axess clinics, you can book an appointment to attend PrEP Express:

  • Tuesdays 9.30am-12pm at Bath Street Health and Wellbeing Centre, Warrington, WA1 1UG
  • Wednesdays 4pm-7pm at Eagle Bridge Health and Wellbeing Centre, Dunwoody Way, CW1 3AW
  • Wednesdays *beginning 8 October 2025*, 3pm-6pm at Linda McCartney Centre, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Prescot St, Liverpool, L7 8XP
  • Fridays, 9.15am-12pm at The Beat, 6 David Lewis Street, Liverpool, L1 4AF

Am I eligible for PrEP?

PrEP is available to anyone who feels they may have a higher than average risk of acquiring HIV infection.

This may include:

  • Gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM)
  • People who work in the sex industry or sex entertainment industry
  • Trans people
  • People who are HIV negative and are in a relationship with someone who is HIV positive who is not on treatment or is newly diagnosed
  • People who have had a recent STI diagnosis such as gonorrhoea or syphilis.

What is PrEP?

PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV) is a pill you can take to protect you from HIV.

It is extremely effective when taken properly. If you take PrEP correctly, you do not need to worry about a sexual partner’s HIV status.

You are protecting your own HIV negative status by taking PrEP.

How effective is PrEP?

PrEP is more than 99% effective at stopping HIV infection, when taken correctly. Globally, hundreds of thousands of people take PrEP.

Very few HIV infections have been reported from when people were using the prescribed dose.
