Smash the stigma this World AIDS Day

Published November 2024

1 December each year marks World AIDS Day. It is a global awareness day uniting people in the fight against HIV and stigma.

Medical advances have come a long way. We have the tools to stop HIV transmission for good. People living with the virus on effective treatment can not pass it on, and can expect to live long, healthy lives.

However, HIV continues to be highly stigmatised and misunderstood, which stops people from accessing testing and treatment. Everyone has a role in challenging stigma and making the world a better place for people living with HIV.

This World AIDS Day, we're encouraging people to smash the stigma by getting tested for HIV.

Getting tested is quick, free and easy to do. It is the only way to find out if you have HIV. If you are living with HIV, starting treatment early means you can live a full and healthy life. If everyone tested for HIV, we could end transmission.
